Neverlands and the End of World – Jimei X Arles, Xiamen, China

Work from my ‘Restricted Residence’ series was included in ‘Neverlands and the End of World’ exhibition curated by the Tangent Collective at Jimei x Arles International Photography Festival, Xiamen, China. November 2022 – January 2023.

‘Neverlands and the End of World uses nuclear related films and images as central archaeological mediums for its curatorial praxis. By dismantling and juxaposing the artist’s work with fictional films, official documents, and news images from different epochs of nuclear development, the exhibition attempts to exemplify the obsurity of nuclear fear, depicting the origin, mass circulation, production and reproduction of apocalyptic imaginations under the fear of nuclear energy. On the other hand, it also attempts to transcend a singular media lens, reinterprets the role of fiction interwined with socio-historical realities and examines the complexity of nuclear fear and apocalyptic narratives.’
